They hoped the days of meeting you would be feast days.
Days of meeting you they hoped as celebrations
عَنfrom ذِكرِكremembering you مَهماwhenever نَذَرواthey vowed الصَومَfasting أَبىrefused
عَن ذِكرِك مَهما نَذَروا الصَومَ أَبى
إِمساكهُمtheir abstinence عيدُa feast غَرامٍpassion عاداreturned
إِمساكهُم عيدُ غَرامٍ عادا
Whenever they vowed to fast from remembering you,
No matter how much fasting they vowed from your memory
A returning feast of passion would not let them abstain.
Their abstinence became a feast of love returned
