كَمhow many مِنof نخبٍdraughts رشفتُهاI sipped them مِنfrom فيهِhis mouth
كَم مِن نخبٍ رشفتُها مِن فيهِ
كَمhow many داءِailment صَبابةpassionate longing بِهِwith it أَشفيهِI heal it
كَم داءِ صَبابة بِهِ أَشفيهِ
How many draughts I have sipped from his mouth!
How many draughts I sipped from his mouth,
How many ailments of passionate longing I heal with it!
How many an illness of youth thereby I was cured,
ماnot زالَceased شِباكُnets صُدغهhis sidelock ليfor me شركاًa snare
ما زالَ شِباكُ صُدغه لي شركاً
حَتّىuntil وَقَعَتfell طَيرُbird فُؤاديmy heart فيهِinto it
حَتّى وَقَعَت طَيرُ فُؤادي فيهِ
The nets of his sidelock remained a snare for me,
Still the mole at his cheek consorting with me,
Until the bird of my heart fell into it.
Till into my heart fluttered the bird of my soul through it.
