هاتيكَthose over there جمالُهُنَّtheir camels وَالأَحداجُand the howdahs
هاتيكَ جمالُهُنَّ وَالأَحداجُ
Rise, friend, greet their caravan as they turn aside.
Arise, O companion, meet them as they advance,
Yonder are their camels and the howdahs.
Behold their swaying carriage and slender waist.
لَمّاwhen نَغَمَsang الحُداةُthe camel-drivers فيin إِثرِهِمtheir wake
لَمّا نَغَمَ الحُداةُ في إِثرِهِم

هاجوا طَربي وَأَيّ شوق هاجوا
When the camel-drivers sang in their wake,
When the camel-drivers chanted as they followed them
They stirred my rapture—and what longing they stirred!
In ecstasy I rose, with yearning set ablaze.
