تُعطي عَدَماً بِوَصلِها حكمَ وُجود
She came to me like life, bestowing overflowing bounty.
Through union with her, she grants nonbeing the status of existence.
كالروحlike the soul مَضَتshe departed فَلَيتَso, would that شِعريmy knowledge أَتَعودwill she return?

أَم عوديَ هاجرت إِلى أَنضرِ عود
She departed like the soul—would that I knew: will she return?
Or has she forsaken my bough for a greener bough?
