Whoever has hope in God does not complain of sorrow.

For everything has come forth by permission from Him.

So say to whoever has strayed from the path of truth:

O you who complain of sorrow, leave it and await relief

From God, who comforts all who grieve.

And place your hope in the Lord, and be secure.

And take a mediator, but do not be harsh.

And toil and strive, for striving brings the fulfillment of wishes.

And be patient, wise, noble, and discerning.

And adapt to your times, from moment to moment.

If your endeavor fails, do not ascribe it to human beings.

Rather, say, 'It is from God,' but remain on your guard.

And renew your resolve if evening finds you vexed.

And do not be obstinate if morning finds you troubled.

Obstinacy is surely unbelief in the eyes of one who has faith.

For whoever hoards sorrow, death is his harvest.

And perhaps his trade is utter ruin.

So discipline the spirit: your earthly life is not its goal.

And treat your body gently: it is not fashioned from steel.

For you are made of nothing but water and clay.
