God gives, and time is generous.
God gives and time is generous,
And so the nights return with joy.
And so are the nights with joy renewed,

And if a man's helper is God,
Though bitter was it, if God supports him,
say of him: 'That man is fortunate in both worlds.'
Say of him in both abodes - he is fortunate!

day after day, while his glory grows.
Day after day, and pride increases,

Set aside talk of beautiful women and love for them,
Leave talking of singers and loving them -
for it does not help in attaining glory.
With gaining glory it is not beneficial!

Man cannot reach the highest rank,
if necks and figures distract him.
If his distraction is an idol and firebrands.

So restrain desire for the beautiful maidens, even if
witnesses from their breasts have risen against you.
Witnesses against you have been set up from the bending branches.

No drunken young man ever won honor.
No Arab youth has succeeded in honor being drunk!

None in our age scales the peaks of eminence
None ascends in our time the peaks of glory,
and glory but a noble and peerless man.
And fame except the glorious and unique!

Like the climber to the highest summit with his effort -
Antoine Siour, the praiseworthy young man.
Antoine Seurat, that praised lad!

A gallant man whom God honored with the highest rank;
His life’s ambition the most sublime rank,
it shone through him, and renewal shone through it.
So he triumphed with it, and it triumphed with new glory!

They placed the bow of leadership in his palm,
They have handed him the bow of authority, his palm -
so everyone pronounced him worthy and praiseworthy.
So all said "Worthy and praiseworthy!"

Not everyone who sought the heights attained them,
and has such a far-reaching grasp of it.
And not everyone with a long hand grasped them!

His views always correct and judicious!

which a father and forefathers had attained before.
That he gained before, from a father and ancestors!

The nature of the noble to pardon, not bind!
