هذي ديار غرور لا قرار لها

هذي ديار غرور لا قرار لها

أن أضحكت ساعةً أبكتك تسعاً

أن أضحكت ساعةً أبكتك تسعاً

These are abodes of delusion; they have no permanence.

If they make you laugh for an hour, they make you weep for nine.

ها قد قضى البدوي طريقه وانعكست

ها قد قضى البدوي طريقه وانعكست

أفراح عرس ابنهِ أتراح باكينا

أفراح عرس ابنهِ أتراح باكينا

Behold, al-Badawi has completed his journey, and transformed were

The joys of his son’s wedding into our mourners’ sorrows.

يا سائراً برداءِ البرّ متشحاً

يا سائراً برداءِ البرّ متشحاً

سبعين عاماً لقد أرضيت بارينا

سبعين عاماً لقد أرضيت بارينا

O traveler, wrapped in the cloak of righteousness,

For seventy years—you have indeed pleased our Maker.

أن تترك الفرج الأراضيّ قد أرَخو

أن تترك الفرج الأراضيّ قد أرَخو

دخلت أفراح برٍ كنز بارينا

دخلت أفراح برٍ كنز بارينا

They have recorded the date of your leaving earthly solace:

You entered the joys of righteousness, our Maker’s treasure.
