يَزالُ من شرِّهِ في الخوفِ والقَلَقِ
Whoever keeps company with a wicked, deceitful man never
He who accompanies the evil deceitful man
ceases to live in fear and anxiety because of his evil.
Remains in fear and anxiety from his harm
كراكبِlike one riding البحرthe sea لاnot ينفكُّis free منfrom جَزَعٍdread
كراكبِ البحر لا ينفكُّ من جَزَعٍ
انif يَنجُhe escapes منfrom غَرَقٍdrowning لاnot يَنجُhe escapes منfrom فَرَقِterror
ان يَنجُ من غَرَقٍ لا يَنجُ من فَرَقِ
Like one riding the sea, he is never free of dread;
Like a ship rider who cannot cease his dread
if he escapes drowning, he does not escape terror.
That he may be saved from drowning, not from being wrecked
ومَبلَغُand the utmost extent الفضلِof virtue منهُfrom him انthat يَمُنَّhe bestows a favor علىupon

من ليس يؤذيهِ بالإِحسانِ والرفقِ
And the height of his virtue is to bestow upon
And the extent of his virtue is to bestow favor
one who does him no harm kindness and gentleness.
Upon one whom he injures not with kindness and gentleness
