نلومwe blame ذيthis الدنياthe world علىfor أَنَّهاthat it is
نلوم ذي الدنيا على أَنَّها
خادعةٌdeceptive باطلةٌvain زائِلَهfleeting
خادعةٌ باطلةٌ زائِلَه
We blame this world for being
We blame the world though she betrays
deceptive, vain, and fleeting;
Deceitful, false, soon fades away
ولمand not نَكُنwe were نترُكُهاleave it بالرِضَىwillingly
ولم نَكُن نترُكُها بالرِضَى
وَهيَwhile it is بأَردَىin the worst شِدَّةٍhardship حاصِلَهsituated
وَهيَ بأَردَى شِدَّةٍ حاصِلَه
yet we would not leave it willingly,
Yet we clung to her, not wanting to let go
though it is in the direst distress.
While with utmost force she held sway
