    Reason counsels what is required

to a nature more veiled from guidance.

    You see it deliberately affirming

propositions whose negation is more necessary.

How often reason forbids a resolve

and a disposition not condemned by it.

So let not this world deceive you

if you perceive death as nobler.

If you lift the veil from it,

that which is veiled is revealed.

It is the base world; if

it draws near with treachery, do not be surprised.
