يا أيها النحريرُ مَن
كلٌّeveryone إليهِof him مُفتقِرin need
كلٌّ إليهِ مُفتقِر
O you accomplished scholar, on whom
O you who are free, all are in need of you
Everyone depends,
None is as oppressed as he
هاكhere, take this المعمَّىthe riddle ياO فتىyoung man
هاك المعمَّى يا فتى
ماnot مثلهُlike it ضانٌsheep حُقِرwas belittled
ما مثلهُ ضانٌ حُقِر
