إذا ما شِئتَ ان تحيَى سعيداً

إذا ما شِئتَ ان تحيَى سعيداً

فلا تَحلُل عُرى ما لا يَحِلُّ

فلا تَحلُل عُرى ما لا يَحِلُّ

If you wish to live in happiness,

If you wish to live happily,

do not loosen bonds that may not be undone.

Then do not undo the bonds of what is forbidden.

فقد قال النُهى لفظيَّ نُصحٍ

فقد قال النُهى لفظيَّ نُصحٍ

إذا ما لم تَزِلَّ فما تَذِلُّ

إذا ما لم تَزِلَّ فما تَذِلُّ

For reason has spoken two words of counsel:

If you do not slip, you will not be humbled.

If you do not stumble, you will not be abased.
