How many a crowned king has terrifying death brought down

From his throne, and an exalted man from his pinnacle!

This is the end of bodies: a decayed bone.

Where is beauty, and where the loveliness of faces?

The insects feasted on them in their graves,

And so, within them, they changed in every respect.

Equality arose amid disparity, as there came to be

For the lowly a lot like that of the eminent and most esteemed.
