I surveyed all creatures—exalted be their Maker—

All that falls under species and genera:

From angels and celestial spheres, all of them,

And inanimate things, and those that grow and those that sense.

So I saw each, in a way peculiar to it, bring

Glory to its Creator and benefit to people.

Except the son of Adam, whose vile deeds have multiplied:

He has brought nothing but filth and defilement.

Thus, a putrid drop of seed or a filthy corpse,

In Eve's womb, in the wombs of graves.
