وجدتُ الخوفَ من قلبِ الأَمانِ

And whenever I thought that I was safe,

Whenever I thought I was safe,

I found fear coming from the heart of safety.

I found fear in the heart of safety.

وشِمتُ النفسَ من أَدنى هَواءٍ

وشِمتُ النفسَ من أَدنى هَواءٍ

تكَادُ بان تُسلَّمَ للهَوانِ

تكَادُ بان تُسلَّمَ للهَوانِ

And I saw the soul, at the slightest breeze,

And I blamed the self for the slightest passion,

Almost being handed over to humiliation.

That almost surrenders to temptation.
