انif شِئتَyou wish تَنفُخُنيyou puff me up أوor شِئتَyou wish تَسلَخُنيyou flay me
Always judge me however you choose.
Judge me as you wish forever
If you wish, puff me up; or, if you wish, flay me.
Whether you want to blow me up or skin me

والقصدand the point أنthat ضميريmy conscience لاdoes not يوبخنيreproaches me
I am as I am—for, by God, I know myself best.
As I am, and God knows me best
And the point is that my conscience does not reproach me.
My conscience does not reproach me
فماfor … not الهِجاءُsatire إلىinto الآبارِthe wells يَطرَحُنيcasts me down
ولاnor الثَناءُpraise إلىup to الجَبَّارthe Giant (Orion) يُشمِخُنيraises me high
For satire does not cast me down into wells,
So slander cannot make me fall into wells
nor does praise lift me up to Orion.
Nor praise make me haughty before the Almighty

انwhether كُنتَyou are تَمدَحُنيyou praise me أوor كُنتَyou are تَمسَخُنيyou disfigure me
Praise of me and satire are alike and equal in my eyes,
It's all the same to me - praise or blame
whether you praise me or disfigure me.
Whether you want to glorify or vilify me
