أَتلفتَ فَهمَكَ في ضِيائِك

ورَفَعتَ قلبك في بَهائِك

You ruined your understanding through your splendor,

And raised your heart through your glory,

يا حاملَ الأنوار قد

اظلمتَ عقلاً باستضائِك

O bearer of lights, you have

Darkened the intellect through your illumination,

يا كوكبَ الصُبحِ المُنيرَ

لِمَ انهبطتَ مِن ارتِقائِك

O morning star,

Why have you descended from your ascent?

فوقَ الكواكبِ قلت ان

تَعَلى مَكانكَ لاعتِلائِك

Above the stars you said

To ascend higher than your place out of arrogance,

مُتَشبِّهاً بإِلهك ال

عالي وذاكَ لِكبرِيائِك

Resembling your Exalted God,

That was due to your pride,

فطُرحتَ نحو اسافل

وغَدَوتَ تعدو في اعتِدائِك

So you were cast down to the lowest,

And you started running recklessly,

ووُضِعتَ لمّا إِن رُفِعتَ

ولم تُخيَّب من جَزائِك

And you were debased when raised,

And your reward was not forfeited,

رُمتَ الكِفايةَ بالتقدُّمِ

فانكَفَأتَ إلى وَرائِك

You were satisfied with progress,

So you recoiled backwards,

وهَوَيتَ لمّا إِن عَلَو

تَ فجُزتَ في مَهوى انهِوائِك

And you desired, when elevated,

So you were rewarded with falling into abyss,

وأَبَيتَ ان تَعنُو لمن

أَعناك فاثبُت في عَنائِك

And you refused to be helped by the One

Who helped you, so persist in your misery,

لو أَن رَدَدتَ مُجَيدك ال

سامي لربّكَ في سَمائِك

If you had humbled your sublime forehead to your Lord in the heavens,

You would have risen expectantly and not

لَسَمَوتَ مرتقباً ولم

تَعتَض ببأسك عن رَجائِك

Obstructed your hope through your might,

In a minute of intellect

بدقيقةٍ عقليَّةٍ

أُوجِدتَ لكن من سَوائِك

You were created but out of your evil,

Wearing necklaces of bounty

متحلِّياً بقلائدِ ال

إِنعام تزهو في نَقائِك

Shining in your purity,

A hidden mystery was uncovered from you

كُوشِفتَ عن سِرٍّ مَصُو

نٍ عنك من فرطِ ازدِهائِك

Out of your extreme ecstasy,

You wanted oneness with God in you

شِئتَ اتِحادَ اللَهِ فيكَ

يُرى لِعزّك في سَنائِك

To appear for your glory in your brilliance,

And you rebelled to reject the One

وقد انبَرَيتَ لرَفض مَن

ابراك فاثبُت في انبِرائك

Who blessed you, so persist in your denial,

Towards hell in shackles,

نحوَ الجحيم مُغلَّلاً

اذ ليسَ فَكٌّ من حَبائك

Since there is no escape from your bonds,

You were cast into the fire and the flames rose to meet you,

أُلقِيتَ في النِيران فار

تفَع اللهيبُ إلى لِقائِك

This is the reward of arrogance, so enjoy

The prizes of your great pride,

هذا جَزاءُ الكِبرِ فانعَم

في جوائز كِبرِيائِك

And prison became your abode, so be pleased with the heat of your wisdom,

Suffering eternally with your nature,

وغدا لكَ السجِّينُ مأ

وىً فاغتبِط بلَظى ذَكائِك

And God knows the duration of your existence,

Arrogance necessitated your repulsion,

متعذّباً بدَوام طَبعك

والاله مَدَى بَقائِك

And for this reason, you do not cease

To call people to follow you,

قد أوجبَ الكِبرُ الرديُّ

عليكَ ملزومَ انتِفائِك

God forbid the frequent anguish of your soul in your misery!

How different is your end, O Pelted One, from your beginning!

ولأَجلِ هذا لم تَزَل

تدعو الأَنامَ إلى اقتفائِك

Extend, O ignorant one, the rising of your sun in the sky to its setting,

Meet your appearance with illumination and glory to your disappearance,

جَلَّ الالهُ فما امرَّ

مرارَ نفسِك في شَقائِك

If you required weeping, I would say, increase your crying for us,

Your chronic disease is the mighty pillar, so there is no way to cure you,

شَتَّانَ ما بينَ انتِها

ئِك يا رجيمُ مِن ابتدائِك

You have attracted sin to yourself, which is the meaning of your evil perception,

A third of the stars vanished

ضِف يا غبيُّ شُروقَ شمسك

في السَماءِ إلى انمِحائِك

When they vanished by the echo of your dismal abode,

And they opposed your opinion, so they transgressed

قابِل ظُهورك بالإِنا

رةِ والبَهاءِ إلى اختِفائِك

When they recoiled from your disease,

And they all became misguided

لو كُنتَ تقتضيُ البكاءَ

لقُلتُ زِدنا من بُكائِك

Under your banner or flags,

And you hunted them when you cast

ذا داؤُك الزَّمنُ العُقا

مُ فلا سبيلَ إلى دَوائِك

Your traps upon them,

And you wounded them with wounds that

جاذَبتَ بالذَنب الذي

لك وَهوَ مَعنَى سُوءِ رآئك

Became contiguous by the sharpness of your claws,

So the command of the All-Compelling Lord passed over them,

ثلث الكواكب فانهَوَوا

لمَّا انهَوَوا بصَدَا مُكائِك

It is from your decrees,

O God, increase evil for those

وعَدَوا لرأيك فاعتَدَوا

لما انعَدَوا بسَقام دائِك

Who desired to incline towards his evil,

O Lord, Your attributes have been exalted in Your purity,

وغَدَوا جميعاً بالضَلا

لةِ تحتَ بَندك او لِوائِك

Dazzling intellects and spiritual insights,

The meaning of Your lucidity in Your mystery,

واصطَدتَهم لما طرحتَ

عليهمِ منك الشبائِك

So all hearts gathered upon Your allegiance,

O You whose body we violated,

وجَرَحتَهم جُرحاً غدا

متماسياً بمَضا شبائِك

Cast Your cloak over us in Your mercy,

And grant protection to souls

فمَضَى عليهِم امرُ رَبٍّ

قاطعٌ هُوَ من مَضائِك

That desire nothing but Your protection,

By the intercession of the Maiden

اللَهُ زِد سُؤاً لِمَن

رَغِبوا الجُنوحَ إلى سَوائِك

Who is the best of Your creation among Your angels,

She whom You have appointed

يا أيُّها المَولى لَقَد

جلَّت صِفاتك في صَفائِك

And intended in Your accounts,

She who attained the heights of humility

بَهَرَ المَدارِكَ والنُهى

مَعنَى وُضوحِكَ في خَفائِك

And assumed the highest ranks,

The Mother of God, the Maiden, the crown of mankind, indeed the crown of angels,

فتجمَّعَت بل أَجمَعَت

كلُّ القُلوبِ على وَلائِك

The Torah of Moses gave news of her and the rest of Your prophets,

The people of discernment stood by the proof of her virtue from among Your devout,

يا مَن تردَّى جِسمَنا

ظَلِّل علينا في رِدائِك

Then generations knew that she is the Maiden of maidens of Your chosen ones,

They were all before her empty and devoid of Your realized ones,

وهَبَ الوِقايةَ أَنفُساً

ليست ترومُ سِوَى وقائك

Until the promise in her was fulfilled, by Your command and predestination,

You fulfilled for humankind through Your choice and approval,

بشَفاعةِ البِكرِ التي

هِيَ خيرُ خَلقك في مَلائك

So she filled us with righteousness and each attained

From the outpouring of Your abundance,

تِلكَ التي عيَّنتَها

وعَنَيتَ عنها في نَبائِك

And You chose her as a Maiden and Mother

Among Your women,

من قد سَمَت بَتَواضُعٍ

وتَسنَّمت أعلى الأَرائِك

So she rose above the souls of all

The hopeful toward Your exaltation,

امُّ الالهِ البِكرُ تا

جُ الناس بل تاجُ الملائك

And You decreed that none feels secure

Except Your creatures by Your decree,

تَوراةُ مُوسى انبأَت

عنها وسائرُ انبيائِك

And without her no soul ever found

Salvation from Your tribulation,

قامت بحُجَّةِ فَضلِها

اهلُ النُهى من أَتقِيائِك

She is the essence of the two worlds as

She preceded with the nobility of Your selection,

ثُمَّ القُرونُ بانها

هيَ بِكرُ ابكار اجتبائك

And the essence of existence as You intended her

With the sincerity of Your care,

كانت جميعاً قبلَها

خلواً وصفراً من خَلائك

We were not saved from the calamities of captivity

Except through Your redemption,

حتى استتَّم الوعدُ فيها

حَسبَ أَمرك واقتِضائِك

No weaver has spun a day

Garments of praise for you except the Best of tailors,

وافيتَ منها للبريَّةِ

باختيارك وارتضائِك

And the undone poem praising you

Has become the most exquisite of poems,

فملأتنا بِرّاً وكلٌّ نالَ

من فيض امتلائِك

The universes were not filled with

Bounty except from Your generosity,

واختَرتَها بِكراً وأُمّاً

دُونَ خَلقِكَ من نِسائِك

None of the virtuous attained favor

Except from Your giving,

فعَلَت على أَرواح كل

المعتلينَ إلى علائِك

None of the wealthy were enriched

With perfect bounty except from Your wealth,

وَقَضَيتَ أَلّا أَمنَ إِلّا

هالخَلقك من قَضائِك

No darkness was illumined with

Brilliance except from Your luminescence,

وبدونها لم يُلفِ جا

نٍ قَطُّ منجىً من بَلائِك

No orbits attained the lights and illumination

Except from Your splendor,

هيَ صُفوةُ الكونَينِ إذ

سبقت بآزال اصطِفائِك

The heavens and earths were not constructed

Except from Your building,

وخُلاصةُ الموجود إذ عُنيت

بإِخلاص اعتِنائِك

Our souls did not inhale spirits

Except from Your air,

لم نُفدَ من رِبَقات أَسرِ

العَذلِ إِلّا بافتدائِك

No fires were lit with

Burning except from Your heat,

ما حاكَ بُردَ المدح يو

ماً فيكِ إلا خيرُ حائك

No animal or plant was nourished

Except from Your provision,

وخلاصُ سبكِ النظمِ فيكِ

لقد غدا أَسنى السبائِك

No fertility of the growing things increased

Except from Your growth,

ما ماجت الأَكوانُ بال

إِنعام الا من سخائِك

No true discernment exempted You from praise

Nor did any speech exclude singing Your glory,

ما فاز بالإِفضال اهلُ

الفضلِ إلا من عَطائِك

So for You is lasting praise

Whose beauty comes from the mouths of Your loved ones,

ما أُثرِيَت اهلُ الثَراءِ

الجَمِّ الا من ثَرائِك

And all Your Chosen Ones forever, and the company of Your sincere ones,

No angels veiled You,

ما انجابت الأَغساق بال

إِشراقِ إِلّا من سَنائِك

Unable to behold Your glory,

And souls melted in

ما حازت الأَفلاكُ ذي ال

اضواءَ إلَّا من ضِيائِك

Revering Your lofty delicacy,

Endless praise accompanying

لم تُبتَنَ السمواتُ وال

أَرضُونَ الا من بِنائِك

The eternity of Your existence,

O You for whom our bodies were sacrificed,

ما استنشقَت أَرواحُنا ال

أَرواحَ الَّا من هَوائِك

Cast Your cloak over us in Your mercy,

And grant protection to souls

ما اشتدَّتِ النِيرانُ بال

إِحراقِ الَّا من ذَكائِك

That desire nothing but Your protection,

Through the intercession of the Maiden

ما غُذِّيَ الحَيَوانُ وال

مَوَتانُ الَّا من غِذائِك

Who is the best of Your creation among Your angels,

ما نَمَّ خِصبُ الناميا

تِ وفاضَ إلَّا من نَمائِك

لم يُثنَ عنكِ نُهىً ولم

يستثنِ نُطقٌ في ثَنائِك

فلكِ الثَناءُ المُستطا

بُ شَذاهُ من فَمِ أَوليائِك

والمُصطَفَينَ جميعِهِم

ابداً وزُمرةِ أَصفِيائِك

ما حجَّبَتكِ ملائِكٌ

لم تستطع مرأَى بَهائِك

وتراقت الأَرواحُ في

تعظيمهم سامي رقائِك

حَمداً يدومُ بلا انتِهاءٍ

مصحباً عدم انتِهائِك
