بهاconcerning it يُوسُفُYusuf العبسيُّal-Absi أوصَىleft instructions لَدَىat القَضَاdeath
بها يُوسُفُ العبسيُّ أوصَى لَدَى القَضَا
جمالاًan adornment لبيتِfor the house of اللهGod قدindeed رَاقَwas pleasing شَكْلهُits form
جمالاً لبيتِ الله قد رَاقَ شَكْلهُ
Yusuf al-Absi left instructions for it at his death,
With him Yusuf al-Abasi commanded at death
as an adornment for God's house, delightful in form.
A beauty for the house of God that pleased the form
فتىًa young man مِنamong كرامِthe noble among النَّاسِpeople قدindeed شاعَspread ذِكرُهُhis renown
فتىً مِن كرامِ النَّاسِ قد شاعَ ذِكرُهُ
بحُسنِfor the goodness of سجاياهُhis character traits كماjust as بانَbecame evident فضُلهُhis merit
بحُسنِ سجاياهُ كما بانَ فضُلهُ
A young man among noble people, his renown spread
A young man of the honorable people whose fame has spread
for the goodness of his character, as his merit shone forth.
With the goodness of his qualities as his virtue appeared
قَضَىspent عُمرَهُhis life فيin طاعةِobedience to اللهِGod سالِكاًtreading
قَضَى عُمرَهُ في طاعةِ اللهِ سالِكاً
سبيلَthe path of التُّقَىpiety فيin مَسلَكٍa course هُوَhe أهلُهُworthy of it
سبيلَ التُّقَى في مَسلَكٍ هُوَ أهلُهُ
He spent his life in obedience to God, treading
He spent his life obeying God walking
the path of piety, along a course he was worthy of.
The path of piety in a course that suited him
بَنَىbuilt قُبَّةًa dome بيضاءَwhite فيon الأرضِthe earth أرِّخواrecord the date
بَنَى قُبَّةً بيضاءَ في الأرضِ أرِّخوا
وفيand in القُبِّةِthe dome الزَّرقاءِblue أضحَىbecame مَحلُّهُhis dwelling
وفي القُبِّةِ الزَّرقاءِ أضحَى مَحلُّهُ
He built a white dome upon the earth—record the date:
He built a white dome on the land they recorded
and now his dwelling is within the blue dome.
And in the blue dome he became its place
