لمَّا طَوَت أنجَلينا دارُ غُربتها
أجرَتْcaused to flow دُموعَtears بنيsons of التيَّانِal-Tayyan كالمَطَرِlike rain
أجرَتْ دُموعَ بني التيَّانِ كالمَطَرِ
When the abode of her exile enfolded Angelina,
When Angelina left her home in the west
It made the tears of the sons of al-Tayyan flow like rain.
The tears of her children flowed like rain
بِكرٌvirgin مطهَّرةٌpurified نادَىcalled out مؤرِّخُهاher chronicler
بِكرٌ مطهَّرةٌ نادَى مؤرِّخُها
قدindeed غابَvanished فيin طيِّfolds of رَمسٍa grave كوكبُstar of السَّحَرِthe predawn hours
قد غابَ في طيِّ رَمسٍ كوكبُ السَّحَرِ
A pure virgin—her chronicler proclaimed:
A spotless young camel, its chronicler proclaimed
"The predawn star has vanished within the folds of a grave."
The enchanting star has set into the folds of sand
