قدindeed أشرَقَتshone دارُthe house of ابنِson of نَوفَلَNawfal بهجةًwith joy
قد أشرَقَت دارُ ابنِ نَوفَلَ بهجةً
بأمينِwith Amin لُطفٍLutf زارَهاvisited it نِعْمَhow excellent الوَلَدْthe child
بأمينِ لُطفٍ زارَها نِعْمَ الوَلَدْ
The house of Ibn Nawfal has shone with joy,
The house of Ibn Nawfal's son shone brightly
With Amin Lutf, who visited it—what a fine child!
With the visit of the gentle, gracious boy.
فأجابَthen he replied فيin تاريخِdating ذاكَthat بشيرُهاits herald
فأجابَ في تاريخِ ذاكَ بشيرُها
وُلِدَwas born الهلالُthe crescent اليومَtoday فيin بُرجِthe sign of الأسَدْLeo (the Lion)
وُلِدَ الهلالُ اليومَ في بُرجِ الأسَدْ
Then its herald replied, dating that event:
Its good news on that date did thus cry out:
The crescent was born today in the sign of Leo.
