ممَّا يَعافُ الرِّضَى من واجبِ النَّظَرِ

The caliph’s heart is wakeful, relieving him

The Caliph's heart is wakeful, stripping it

Of what contentment disdains in the duty of oversight.

Of what would please, of duty's thoughtful care;

مُظَفَّرٌ نائبٌ في أرضِ واقِفِهِ

مُظَفَّرٌ نائبٌ في أرضِ واقِفِهِ

مُبارِزٌ غالِبٌ دُنياهُ بالظَّفَرِ

مُبارِزٌ غالِبٌ دُنياهُ بالظَّفَرِ

Victorious, a deputy in the land of the one who stationed him,

A conqueror deputed in his land,

A champion, conquering his world with victory.

Victorious rival of his worldly share.
