O sons of Mishaqa, be patient after the loss of a young man,
He endured with patience after losing a noble youth,
Like a bān-tree bough, supple in form and gracefully swaying.
Like a moist, slender branch of ban tree.

He was indeed noble-hearted and eminent among our clans;
He was valiant and eminent among our tribes,

Mingling gentleness with might in battle.

From His pardon and good pleasure, the cup’s choicest draught.
His pardon and pleasure—the choicest cup.
