ياO ابنَson of المُنيِّرِal-Munayyir صَبراًpatience فيin الزَّمانِtime علىover
يا ابنَ المُنيِّرِ صَبراً في الزَّمانِ على
فِراقِparting from آسينَAsin فالطُّوبَىso blessedness لِمَنfor whoever صَبَراendured patiently
فِراقِ آسينَ فالطُّوبَى لِمَن صَبَرا
O son of al-Munayyir, be patient in these times over
O son of the enlightened one, have patience in time
the parting from Asin; blessed is whoever endures.
Over the separation of loved ones, for bliss belongs to the patient.
كُفَّcease البُكاweeping حَسْبَaccording to تأريخٍa chronogram رُسِمَتwas inscribed لهُfor him
كُفَّ البُكا حَسْبَ تأريخٍ رُسِمَت لهُ
فالياسُfor Elias عادَتُهُhis habit أنto يُمسِكَwithhold المَطَراthe rain
فالياسُ عادَتُهُ أن يُمسِكَ المَطَرا
Cease weeping, in keeping with a chronogram inscribed for him:
Stop crying, for a date has been set for you,
For Elias is accustomed to withholding the rain.
Despair's habit is to withhold the rain.
