في فتح عكا بَرْدُ نارِ معَاطبٍ
دارِthe abode of الخليلthe Friend وللديارِand for the dwellings بهِbecause of it البُكاweeping
دارِ الخليل وللديارِ بهِ البُكا
In Acre’s conquest, the fire of calamities is cooled—
In the conquest of Acre, the chill of Ma'atab's fire,
The Friend’s abode—and because of it the dwellings weep.
The home of Khalil, and for the homes is weeping in it,
رأسَat the beginning of الثَمانِeight وأربعينَand forty بِطيّهِwithin its folds
رأسَ الثَمانِ وأربعينَ بِطيّهِ
مئتانِtwo hundred مَعْwith ألفٍa thousand فبارَكَso may … bless ربُّكاyour Lord
مئتانِ مَعْ ألفٍ فبارَكَ ربُّكا
At the beginning of forty-eight, within its folds lie
The year four hundred forty eight was its loss,
Two hundred with a thousand—so may your Lord bestow blessings.
Two hundred thousand plus one thousand - So your Lord blessed you.
