زُرْ ضريحَ المُصطَفى وادعُ لهُ

زُرْ ضريحَ المُصطَفى وادعُ لهُ

تالياً مِن فوقهِ وِرْدَ السَّحَرْ

تالياً مِن فوقهِ وِرْدَ السَّحَرْ

Visit al-Mustafa’s tomb and pray for him,

reciting above it the litany of the predawn hour.

عَلمٌ مِن نسلِ إبراهيمَ قد

عَلمٌ مِن نسلِ إبراهيمَ قد

حَجَّ بيتَ اللهِ نُسْكاً واعتَمَرْ

حَجَّ بيتَ اللهِ نُسْكاً واعتَمَرْ

A distinguished man of Ibrahim’s lineage, who had

made pilgrimage to God’s House in devotion and performed the lesser pilgrimage.

تَرَكَ الدُّنيا وأبقى حَسْرةً

تَرَكَ الدُّنيا وأبقى حَسْرةً

لبَنِي الغَوشِ كما شاءَ القدَرْ

لبَنِي الغَوشِ كما شاءَ القدَرْ

He left this world and left behind grief

for the sons of al-Ghawsh, as fate willed.

يومَ عيدِ النَّحرِ وَلَّى راحلاً

يومَ عيدِ النَّحرِ وَلَّى راحلاً

وهْوَ للأكبادِ ضحَّى ونَحَرْ

وهْوَ للأكبادِ ضحَّى ونَحَرْ

On the day of the Feast of Sacrifice he departed,

while he sacrificed and slaughtered livers.

رحمةُ اللهِ على تربَتِهِ

رحمةُ اللهِ على تربَتِهِ

ولهُ اللهُ بتأريخٍ غَفَرْ

ولهُ اللهُ بتأريخٍ غَفَرْ

May God’s mercy rest upon his grave’s earth,

and, as a chronogram: may God forgive him.
