أمسَىbecame at evening برحمةِin the mercy of ربهِhis Lord مُتَوشِّحاًcloaked
أمسَى برحمةِ ربهِ مُتَوشِّحاً
رَجُلٌa man عليهِover him بنوthe sons of السِّماطِthe banquet table تحسَّرواthey grieved
رَجُلٌ عليهِ بنو السِّماطِ تحسَّروا
At evening he was cloaked in his Lord’s mercy,
A man wrapped in his Lord's mercy
a man for whom the companions of the banquet table grieved,
The lords of power lament over him
فيin مَضجَعٍa resting place كَتَبَwrote المؤرِّخُthe chronicler حولَهُaround it
في مَضجَعٍ كَتَبَ المؤرِّخُ حولَهُ
قدindeed باتَspent the night عندَwith الرُّسْلthe apostles بُطرَسُPeter فابشِرواso rejoice
قد باتَ عندَ الرُّسْل بُطرَسُ فابشِروا
in a resting place around which the chronicler wrote:
In a bed which historians have written about
“Peter has spent the night with the apostles, so rejoice!”
Peter the Apostle spent the night there, so rejoice
