هذا الأميرُ الشِّهابِيُّ بعدَ فُرقتِهِ

هذا الأميرُ الشِّهابِيُّ بعدَ فُرقتِهِ

طالت ليالي أبيهِ يُوسُفَ السُّودُ

طالت ليالي أبيهِ يُوسُفَ السُّودُ

After the departure of this Shihabi prince,

his father Yusuf’s dark nights grew long.

في رسمِ تأريخهِ نَادَى مُسطِّرُهُ

في رسمِ تأريخهِ نَادَى مُسطِّرُهُ

إنَّ الذي سَكَنَ الفِردوَسَ مَسعودُ

إنَّ الذي سَكَنَ الفِردوَسَ مَسعودُ

In inscribing his chronogram, its writer proclaimed:

Indeed, he who has made Paradise his home is Mas‘ud.
