لكمfor you ياO بَنِيsons of الخوريal-Khuri البَقاcontinued life بعدafter راحلٍone who has departed
لكم يا بَنِي الخوري البَقا بعد راحلٍ
علىover فَقْدهِhis loss يُستَوجَبُis required الصَّبرُpatience فاصِبرواso be patient
على فَقْدهِ يُستَوجَبُ الصَّبرُ فاصِبروا
May you endure, O sons of al-Khuri, after one who has departed.
May you live on, O sons of al-Khuri, after one has departed.
In the face of losing him, patience is required—so be patient.
His loss demands patience, so be patient.
أقامَhe settled بدارِin the abode of الخُلدِeternity بينَamong ملائكٍangels
أقامَ بدارِ الخُلدِ بينَ ملائكٍ
لهُfor him فتحواthey opened أبوابهاits doors وتصدَّرواand took the foremost places
لهُ فتحوا أبوابها وتصدَّروا
He has taken up residence in the abode of eternity, among angels.
He settled in the abode of eternity among angels.
For him they opened its gates and came to the fore.
For him they opened its doors and took their places at the fore.
وأوحَىand revealed إليهمto them حينَwhen أرَّخْتُI recorded the date ربُّهُhis Lord
وأوحَى إليهم حينَ أرَّخْتُ ربُّهُ
لقدindeed جاءَhas come نصرُhelp of اللهGod والفتحُand victory فابشِرواso rejoice
لقد جاءَ نصرُ الله والفتحُ فابشِروا
And when I set down his date, his Lord inspired them:
And his Lord revealed to them, when I recorded the date:
“God’s aid and victory have come—so rejoice.”
Indeed, God's help and victory have come, so rejoice!
