لقدindeed أتاناhas come to us غلامٌa boy طابَwas auspicious مَولِدُهُhis birth
لقد أتانا غلامٌ طابَ مَولِدُهُ
بوجْههِwith his face عنin place of جَمالِthe beauty of البدرِthe full moon يُعتاضُa substitute is found
بوجْههِ عن جَمالِ البدرِ يُعتاضُ
A boy has come to us—blessed was his birth;
Indeed, a boy has come to us, whose birth was auspicious.
His face is recompense enough for the full moon’s beauty.
In his face one finds a substitute for the full moon's beauty.
مِنfrom نعمةِthe grace of اللهِGod ألطافٌfavors مُؤَرَّخةٌdated
مِن نعمةِ اللهِ ألطافٌ مُؤَرَّخةٌ
فيهاwithin them ليُوسفُfor Yusuf ميخائيلُMikhail فيَّاضُFayyad
فيها ليُوسفُ ميخائيلُ فيَّاضُ
Among God’s blessings are favors set into a chronogram:
From God's grace come favors, their date recorded
Within them, “Michael is bountiful to Joseph.”
Within them, for Yusuf Mikhail Fayyad.
