عليكَ كلُّ اعتِمادي أيُّها الصَّمَدُ

عليكَ كلُّ اعتِمادي أيُّها الصَّمَدُ

قد فازَ عبدٌ على مَولاهُ يَعتَمِدُ

قد فازَ عبدٌ على مَولاهُ يَعتَمِدُ

All my reliance is on You, O Eternal Refuge.

You are my only reliance, O Eternal One

A servant who relies on his Master has surely triumphed.

A servant has triumphed over his Master upon whom he depends

أَنتَ اللَّطيفُ الخبيرُ المُستغاثُ بهِ

أَنتَ اللَّطيفُ الخبيرُ المُستغاثُ بهِ

عندَ الخُطوبِ ومنك العَونُ والمَدَدُ

عندَ الخُطوبِ ومنك العَونُ والمَدَدُ

You are the Gentle, the All-Aware, whose aid is sought

You are the Subtle, the All-Aware, the One called upon for help

in calamities; from You come help and succor.

In times of adversity, and from You comes aid and support

إذا التوَت نُوَبُ الأيَّامِ وانعَقَدَتْ

إذا التوَت نُوَبُ الأيَّامِ وانعَقَدَتْ

فعِندَ لُطفِكَ لا تَستَغلِقُ العُقَدُ

فعِندَ لُطفِكَ لا تَستَغلِقُ العُقَدُ

When the misfortunes of days twist and become knotted,

When the turns of days become entangled

then, before Your kindness, no knots resist unraveling.

Then through Your kindness, the knots come undone

إنْ لم تكُنْ عُدَّةً للَمرءِ يَذخَرُها

إنْ لم تكُنْ عُدَّةً للَمرءِ يَذخَرُها

فليسَ يَنفعُهُ ذُخرٌ ولا عُدَدُ

فليسَ يَنفعُهُ ذُخرٌ ولا عُدَدُ

If You are not the resource a person keeps in reserve,

If one does not have provisions laid up for himself

then neither reserves nor provisions will benefit him.

Then neither hoard nor store will avail him

يا واحداً لم يكُنْ كُفأً لهُ أَحَدٌ

يا واحداً لم يكُنْ كُفأً لهُ أَحَدٌ

سِواكَ في كلِّ أَمرٍ ليسَ لي أَحَدُ

سِواكَ في كلِّ أَمرٍ ليسَ لي أَحَدُ

O One, to whom no one has ever been equal,

O One, none has ever matched You

in every matter, I have no one but You.

Apart from You, in all matters, I have no one

إَنْ لم يَمُدُّ إليكَ المُستَجيرُ يَداً

إَنْ لم يَمُدُّ إليكَ المُستَجيرُ يَداً

فمَن تُمَدُّ إليهِ في الوُجودِ يَدُ

فمَن تُمَدُّ إليهِ في الوُجودِ يَدُ

If the seeker of refuge does not extend a hand toward You,

If one seeking refuge does not extend his hand to You

then to whom in all existence is a hand extended?

Then to whom in existence can a hand be extended?

أَنتَ القديرُ الذي الأَفلاكُ في يَدِهِ

أَنتَ القديرُ الذي الأَفلاكُ في يَدِهِ

تُطوى ومنهُ جِبالُ الأرض تَرتَعِدُ

تُطوى ومنهُ جِبالُ الأرض تَرتَعِدُ

You are the All-Powerful, in whose hand the celestial spheres

You are the All Powerful, in Whose hand are the celestial spheres

are folded up, and before whom the mountains of the earth tremble.

They fold away and by Him the mountains of the earth tremble

سُبحانَكَ اللهَ رَبّاً لا شَريكَ لهُ

سُبحانَكَ اللهَ رَبّاً لا شَريكَ لهُ

في المُلكِ وَهْوَ الإِلهُ الواحدُ الصَّمَدُ

في المُلكِ وَهْوَ الإِلهُ الواحدُ الصَّمَدُ

Glory be to You, O Allah, a Lord with no partner

Glory be to You, God, Lord without partner

in dominion; He is the One God, the Eternal Refuge.

In dominion, and He is the One, the Eternal

لكَ السَماواتُ والدُّنيا مُسَبِّحَةٌُ

لكَ السَماواتُ والدُّنيا مُسَبِّحَةٌُ

وكلُّ ما وَلَدَتْ أُنثَى وما تَلِدُ

وكلُّ ما وَلَدَتْ أُنثَى وما تَلِدُ

The heavens and the world glorify You,

The heavens and the world glorify You

and all that a female has borne and will bear.

And all females have given birth and will give birth

أَنتَ الكريمُ الذي من لُطفِهِ سَنَدٌ

أَنتَ الكريمُ الذي من لُطفِهِ سَنَدٌ

لكلِّ عبدٍ ضعيفٍ ما لهُ سَنَدُ

لكلِّ عبدٍ ضعيفٍ ما لهُ سَنَدُ

You are the Generous One, from whose kindness comes support

You are the Bountiful, whose kindness is a pillar

for every weak servant who has no support.

For every weak servant who has no pillar

إَن أَصبَحَ العبدُ يوماً عنكَ مُبتَعِداً

إَن أَصبَحَ العبدُ يوماً عنكَ مُبتَعِداً

فإِنَّ حِلمَكَ عنهُ ليسَ يَبتَعِدُ

فإِنَّ حِلمَكَ عنهُ ليسَ يَبتَعِدُ

If one day the servant grows distant from You,

If one day the servant becomes distanced from You

then Your forbearance does not grow distant from him.

Then surely Your forbearance does not distance from him

أنتَ المُعينُ لنا في كلِّ نائبةٍ

أنتَ المُعينُ لنا في كلِّ نائبةٍ

لا يُستَطاعُ عليها الصَّبرُوالجَلَدُ

لا يُستَطاعُ عليها الصَّبرُوالجَلَدُ

You are our Helper in every calamity

You are the Helper for us in every calamity

for which patience and fortitude cannot be mustered.

Patience and steadfastness cannot be mustered for it

إذا أَرَدنا سِوى مَلْجَاكَ ليسَ نَرَى

إذا أَرَدنا سِوى مَلْجَاكَ ليسَ نَرَى

وإنْ طَلَبنا سِوى جَدْواكَ لا نَجِدُ

وإنْ طَلَبنا سِوى جَدْواكَ لا نَجِدُ

If we seek a refuge other than Yours, we see none;

If we desire other than Your refuge, we do not see

and if we seek bounty other than Yours, we find none.

And if we seek other than Your bounty, we do not find

يا مَن يُميتُ ويُحيي كلَّ ذي جَسَدٍ

يا مَن يُميتُ ويُحيي كلَّ ذي جَسَدٍ

أنتَ الحَياةُ ومنكَ الروحُ والجَسَدُ

أنتَ الحَياةُ ومنكَ الروحُ والجَسَدُ

O You who give death and life to every embodied being,

O You Who brings death and gives life to every corporeal being

You are life, and from You come spirit and body.

You are life, and from You comes spirit and body

إذا نَصَرتَ فما الأَعداءُ صانعةٌ

إذا نَصَرتَ فما الأَعداءُ صانعةٌ

وإن وَهَبْتَ فماذا يصنعُ الحَسَدُ

وإن وَهَبْتَ فماذا يصنعُ الحَسَدُ

If You grant victory, what can the enemies do?

If You grant victory, what can enemies do?

And if You give, what can envy do?

And if You bestow, what can envy accomplish?

أنتَ المُيَسِّرُ في قولٍ وفي عَمَلٍ

أنتَ المُيَسِّرُ في قولٍ وفي عَمَلٍ

ومن عِنايتِكَ التَّوفيقُ والرَشَدُ

ومن عِنايتِكَ التَّوفيقُ والرَشَدُ

You are the One who grants ease in speech and action,

You are the One Who facilitates in word and deed

and from Your care come success and right guidance.

And from Your care comes success and right guidance

فاجعَلْ لَما نَبتَنيهِ منكَ أَعمِدَةً

فاجعَلْ لَما نَبتَنيهِ منكَ أَعمِدَةً

يا مَن بَنَيتَ سَماءً ما لها عَمَدُ

يا مَن بَنَيتَ سَماءً ما لها عَمَدُ

So furnish what we build with pillars from You,

So make that which we aspire to from You pillars

O You who built a sky with no pillars.

O You Who constructed a sky without pillars

يا مالكَ المُلكِ هَبْ لي منك مَغفِرةً

يا مالكَ المُلكِ هَبْ لي منك مَغفِرةً

تمحو الذُنوبَ التي لم يُحصها عَدَدُ

تمحو الذُنوبَ التي لم يُحصها عَدَدُ

O Master of dominion, grant me forgiveness from You

O Possessor of dominion, grant me forgiveness from You

that erases the sins no number has counted.

To erase sins that number has not counted

وَعَدَتَ بالعَفْوِ عَمَّن تابَ مُرتجِعاً

وَعَدَتَ بالعَفْوِ عَمَّن تابَ مُرتجِعاً

وأَنتَ لا تُخلِفُ الميعادَ إذ تَعِدُ

وأَنتَ لا تُخلِفُ الميعادَ إذ تَعِدُ

You promised pardon to those who repent and return,

You have promised forgiveness for those who repent

and You do not break Your promise when You promise.

And You do not break Your promise when You make it
