هذاthis أميرُprince of المجدِglory ذوpossessor of اللَّمعِthe radiance الذيthat
هذا أميرُ المجدِ ذو اللَّمعِ الذي
مِنfrom قبلهِbefore him فيin وجهِthe face of موسىMoses يُعهَدُis known
مِن قبلهِ في وجهِ موسى يُعهَدُ
This is the prince of glory, bearing the radiance that
This is the prince of glory with shining light
Was known before him upon the face of Moses.
That was once seen on the face of Moses
قدindeed كانَwas فيin الدُّنياthe world فريدَpeerless in زمانهِhis age
قد كانَ في الدُّنيا فريدَ زمانهِ
فيin كلِّevery مَعنىًrespect والخلائِقُand all creatures تشهَدُbear witness
في كلِّ مَعنىً والخلائِقُ تشهَدُ
He was indeed, in this world, peerless in his age,
He was unique in his time in this world
In every respect, and all creatures bear witness.
In every meaning, as all creation testifies
ياO بدرَfull moon of نورٍlight فيin بياضِthe whiteness of تَمامهِits fullness
يا بدرَ نورٍ في بياضِ تَمامهِ
جَلَبَbrought الخُسوفَthe eclipse عليهupon it يومٌa day أسوَدُblack
جَلَبَ الخُسوفَ عليه يومٌ أسوَدُ
O radiant full moon, white in its fullness,
O moon of radiant light in its full perfection
A black day brought an eclipse upon it.
An eclipse brought darkness upon it one day
سَمَّوكَthey named you مِنfrom تأريخِthe chronological reckoning of بُرجِكَyour zodiacal sign أسعداًAs‘ad (happier)
سَمَّوكَ مِن تأريخِ بُرجِكَ أسعداً
واليومَand today حَظُّكَyour lot عندَwith ربّكَyour Lord أسعَدُhappier
واليومَ حَظُّكَ عندَ ربّكَ أسعَدُ
They named you As‘ad from the reckoning of your zodiacal sign,
They named you from your horoscope ‘most fortunate’
And today your lot with your Lord is happier.
And today your fortune with your Lord is most blessed
