لاdo not تجزَعواbe distraught ياO بنيsons of الضَبَّاطِal-Ḍabbāṭ واصطبِرواand endure patiently
لفَقْدِat the loss of شخصٍa person جميلِbeautiful in القولِspeech والعَملِand deed
Do not be distraught, O sons of al-Ḍabbāṭ, and endure patiently
Do not despair, O officers' sons, but be patient
At the loss of a man beautiful in speech and deed.
For the loss of one so fair in word and deed.
قدindeed كانَhe was غُصناًa branch نضيراًfresh and green فيin شَبيبَتِهِhis youth
فخانَهُthen it betrayed him البينُparting فيthrough قصفٍsnapping علىin عجَلِhaste
He was a verdant branch in his youth,
In his youth he was a fresh branch among peers,
But parting betrayed him, snapping him in haste.
Yet fate betrayed him in haste, it took no heed.
مضَىhe departed إلىto ربِّهِhis Lord الغفَّارthe All-Forgiving مُبتهِجاًrejoicing
فنالَand so he attained ماwhat كانَhe was يرجوهُhoping for it مِنof الأمَلِhope
He departed joyfully to his Lord, the All-Forgiving,
To his Lord the All-Forgiving he's gone with joy,
And attained what he had hoped for.
And attained what hope he cherished and all he'd need.

There, the chronicler's pens have inscribed:
There history's pens have inscribed as they ought-
Indeed, Andrew has been numbered among the apostles.
Lieutenant Andrawus is counted with martyrs indeed.
