كلُنا عبدٌ لعُمرِه

كلُنا عبدٌ لعُمرِه

كلُنا يَسعى لدَهرِه

Each of us is a slave to his life;

Each of us toils for his days.

We all strive for our time

لا تَلُم مَن قد أساءَ

لا تَلُم مَن قد أساءَ

الفِعلَ في تدبيرِ أمرِه

الفِعلَ في تدبيرِ أمرِه

Do not blame one who has erred

Do not blame one who has done wrong

In his actions while managing his affairs;

In managing his affairs

واختَلِق عُذراً لِمَن لم

واختَلِق عُذراً لِمَن لم

يَستَطِع إِبداءَ عُذرِه

يَستَطِع إِبداءَ عُذرِه

And invent an excuse for one who could not

And make excuses for one who could not

Offer his own excuse.
