تنمر وشمر يا قتيب بن مسلم

تنمر وشمر يا قتيب بن مسلم

فإن تميما ظالم وابن ظالم

فإن تميما ظالم وابن ظالم

Be fierce as a tiger and gird yourself, O Qutayb son of Muslim.

Be alert and ready, O Qatib ibn Muslim,

For Tamim is a wrongdoer and the son of a wrongdoer.

For Tameem is unjust and son of the unjust,

ولا تأمنن الثائرين ولا تنم

ولا تأمنن الثائرين ولا تنم

فإن أخا الهيجاء ليس بنائم

فإن أخا الهيجاء ليس بنائم

And never trust the rebels, and do not sleep.

And do not feel secure with the rebels nor sleep,

For the brother of battle is not asleep.

For the brother of Hijaa is not sleeping,

ولا تثقن بالأزد فالغدر منهم

ولا تثقن بالأزد فالغدر منهم

وبكر فمنهم مستحل المحارم

وبكر فمنهم مستحل المحارم

And never trust the Azd, for treachery comes from them.

And do not trust the Azd, for treachery is their trait,

Nor Bakr, for among them is one who deems forbidden things lawful.

And Bakr, among whom violating sanctities is made lawful,

وإني لأخشى يا قتيب عليكم

وإني لأخشى يا قتيب عليكم

معرة يوم مثل يوم ابن خازم

معرة يوم مثل يوم ابن خازم

And I truly fear for you all, O Qutayb,

And indeed I fear for you, O Qatib,

the disgrace of a day like the day of Ibn Khazim.

A day like the day of Ibn Khaazim.
