اِذهَبgo فَلاso may not يُبعِدَنَّكَever banish you اللَهُGod مِنas a رَجُلٍman
اِذهَب فَلا يُبعِدَنَّكَ اللَهُ مِن رَجُلٍ
موريkindler of حروبٍwars وَلِلعافينَand for seekers of bounty وَالناديand the gathering
موري حروبٍ وَلِلعافينَ وَالنادي
Go—may God never banish you—what a man you were:
Go, may Allah not take you far from a man
A kindler of wars, and of fires for seekers of bounty and the gathering.
Who instigates wars and is good to the sound and club alike
ماnot كانَwas يَعدِلهُequal him فيamong الناسِthe people مِنany أَحَدٍone
ما كانَ يَعدِلهُ في الناسِ مِن أَحَدٍ
وَلاnor يُوازيهِrival him فيin نَعمىbounty وَإِرصادِand preparedness
وَلا يُوازيهِ في نَعمى وَإِرصادِ
No one among the people equaled him,
None among the people was his equal
Nor rivaled him in bounty and preparedness.
Nor matched him in grace and nobility
لَقَدindeed تَرَكتَyou have left بَنيthe sons of عَمروAmr وإخوَتِهاand their brethren
لَقَد تَرَكتَ بَني عَمرو وإخوَتِها
يَدعونَthey call out بِاِسمِكَby your name لِلمُنتابِto the visitor وَالرادِand the seeker
يَدعونَ بِاِسمِكَ لِلمُنتابِ وَالرادِ
You have indeed left the sons of Amr and their brethren
Truly you left the Banu 'Amr and their brethren
Calling out your name to the visitor and the seeker.
Invoking your name for the repentant and the relapser
