May God reward well that tribe and ally—

on the morning at Qudays, as the blood rippled—

Tamim, for the hardship of wars and their bite,

while the chicks had begun to chirp within them.

They took their fill of Persia, then left behind

deeds no wordy speaker could recount to his satisfaction.

So whoever aspires cannot match even the remnant of our host,

when renewed bouts of war are made to burst forth.

For they left the lord of the ships lying dead,

their scattered skulls crying out to him.
