إِذاif أَناI لَمdo not أَنفَعI benefit خَليليmy friend بِوُدِّهِthrough affection for him
إِذا أَنا لَم أَنفَع خَليلي بِوُدِّهِ
فَإِنَّthen indeed عَدُوّيmy enemy لاnot يَضُرَّهُمُharms them بَغضيmy hatred
فَإِنَّ عَدُوّي لا يَضُرَّهُمُ بَغضي
If I do not benefit my friend through my affection for him,
If I cannot benefit my friend with my love
then my hatred does my enemies no harm.
Then my enemy cannot harm them with my hate
