Do you shun a fresh trace of Su'ad?
I draw a new painting of happiness avoiding
Her Meadow of al-Ajdad has been effaced, and Yathqub too.
The meadow of ancestors has withered in it, it penetrates
عَفاhas erased آيَهُits traces ريحُthe wind of الجُنوبِthe south مَعَtogether with الصَباthe east wind
وَأَسحَمُand a dark cloud دانٍlow-hanging مُزنُهُits rain clouds مُتَصَوَّبُpouring down
The south wind, together with the east wind, has erased its traces,
The verse of the southern wind has excused with the morning breeze
And a dark cloud, its rain clouds hanging low and pouring down.
And a palm tree leaning, its branches entwined
