May God not forsake the neighbors I left behind,

Like lamps that brighten a night of darkness.

They do not grow weary when the horizon is shrouded

By winter's cold, made leather-like by drought.

They are kings and sons of kings; theirs

Is preeminence over others in hardship and prosperity.

They have ʿĀd's wisdom and bodies purified

Of filial impiety, afflictions, and sin.
