وَعُرّيتُ مِن مالٍ وَخَيرٍ جَمَعتُهُ

وَعُرّيتُ مِن مالٍ وَخَيرٍ جَمَعتُهُ

كَما عُرِّيَت مِمّا تُمِرُّ المَغازِلُ

كَما عُرِّيَت مِمّا تُمِرُّ المَغازِلُ

And I was stripped of wealth and bounty I had gathered,

I am stripped of wealth and good I had amassed

Just as spindles were stripped of the yarn they twist.

As spindles are stripped of the thread they twist
