    واعتكار الليال

    In the tumult of life,

    And the gathering darkness of nights,

  2. واضطراب القناة

    في الخطوب الثقال

    And the trembling of the spear-shaft,

    Amid grievous ordeals,

  3. نحن قوم اباة

    نحن اسد النضال

    We are an unyielding people,

    We are the lions of struggle,

  4. اسد الاجم

    فإذا ادلهم

    Lions of the thickets.

    So when there looms dark

  5. خطب عمم

    نحيي العلم

    An all-encompassing calamity,

    We salute the flag.

  6. ننقذ المستجير

    ونقيل العثار

    We rescue those seeking refuge,

    And lift up those who stumble,

  7. ونواسي الفقير

    ونصون الديار

    And comfort the poor,

    And safeguard the homes,

  8. ونرد الشرور

    نحن نور ونار

    And repel evils.

    We are light and fire.

  9. نزجي القنا

    فاذا الفنا

    We drive the spears forward:

    Then behold: annihilation,

  10. واذا السنا

    واذا انا

    And behold: radiance,

    And behold: I.

  11. فاشهدي يا ربوع

    واشهدي يا سماء

    So bear witness, O lands,

    And bear witness, O sky:

  12. إننا لن نبيع

    غير هذي الدماء

    Indeed, we shall not sell

    Anything but this blood.

  13. ولنعد الدروع

    وليحل القضاء

    And let us ready the armor,

    And let fate descend.

  14. عاش الوطن

    طول الزمن

    Long live the homeland,

    For all time!

  15. لن نمتهن

    ابداً ولن

    We shall not be humiliated,

    Ever—nor shall we!
