بيدِي أيُّها الأميرُ الأريبُ
لاnot لشيءٍfor anything إلّاexcept لأنّيbecause I am غريبُa stranger
لا لشيءٍ إلّا لأنّي غريبُ
Take me by the hand, O discerning prince,
In my hands, O dubious prince
I yield my fate to you, O sagacious Prince,
for no reason save that I am a stranger,
For nothing, except that I am a stranger
For no cause other than that I am a stranger,

or for a mother: whenever she remembers me,
Or for a mother who, when she remembers me
Or for a mother’s sake, who, upon remembering me,
her heart's blood pours forth with her eye's tears.
The heart bleeds with teary eyes
Sheds the blood of her heart in pouring tears.

If, before I saw you, I had erred,
If I have sinned before I saw you
If, before I saw you, I had committed sin,
then at your hands I repent.
I now repent in your hands
Then behold, at your hands, I now repent.
عائِبٌa faultfinder عابنيhe found fault with me لديكَbefore you ومنهُand from him
عائِبٌ عابني لديكَ ومنهُ
خُلِقَتwere created فيin ذويthose possessing العيوبِfaults العيوبُthe faults
خُلِقَت في ذوي العيوبِ العيوبُ
A faultfinder found fault with me before you, and from him
He who blamed me when with you
A fault-finder maligned me to you, yet from him,
were created the faults in those who have faults.
Faults originate in the faulty
The very nature of faults was forged in the flawed.
