يا أَكرَمَ الناسِ في الفَعالِ

يا أَكرَمَ الناسِ في الفَعالِ

وَأَفصَحَ الناسِ في المَقالِ

وَأَفصَحَ الناسِ في المَقالِ

O most generous of people in deeds,

O most generous of men in deeds

O most generous of people in your deeds,

And most eloquent of people in speech,

And most eloquent in words

And most eloquent of people in your speech,

إِن قُلتَ في ذا البَخورِ سَوقاً

إِن قُلتَ في ذا البَخورِ سَوقاً

فَهَكَذا قُلتَ في النَوالِ

فَهَكَذا قُلتَ في النَوالِ

If you spoke of sending forth this incense,

If you said this incense was merchandise

If you commanded this incense to be driven forth,

Then thus you spoke of giving.

Then you spoke just as well about the sandalwood

Then in such manner have you spoken of the gift.
