أَباعِثO inspirer of كُلِّevery مَكرُمَةٍdeed of honor طُموحُlofty
وَفارِسَand rider of كُلِّevery سَلهَبَةٍtall, long-bodied mare سَبوحِswift-gliding
O inspirer of every lofty deed of honor,
I send forth every ambitious spirit
O rouser of every high-aspiring virtue,
And rider of every tall, swift-gliding mare,
And knight of every flaming enterprise,
And master of every swift and gliding steed,
وَطاعِنَand deliverer of thrusts كُلِّevery نَجلاءٍgaping غَموسٍdeep-piercing
وَعاصِيَand defier of كُلِّevery عَذّالٍpersistent reprover نَصيحِsincere in counsel
And deliverer of every gaping, deep-piercing thrust,
Thrusting at every lofty, sullen fort,
And dealer of the deep and gaping thrust,
And defier of every well-meaning reprover:
And flouting every sage reproof.
Who spurns the counsel of the sincere scold,
سَقانيmay He give me to drink اللَهُGod قَبلَbefore المَوتِdeath يَوماًone day
دَمَblood of الأَعداءِthe enemies مِنfrom جَوفِthe depths of الجُروحِthe wounds
May God one day, before death, give me to drink
May God grant me, before death, a day
May God grant me a draught before I die,
The blood of enemies from the depths of their wounds.
When my foes' blood flows from the wounds.
Of enemies' blood, fresh from the depths of wounds.
