لي منصبُ العَرَبِ البيضِ المصاليتِ

لي منصبُ العَرَبِ البيضِ المصاليتِ

ومنطِقٌ صيغَ من دُرٍّ وياقوتِ

ومنطِقٌ صيغَ من دُرٍّ وياقوتِ

Mine is the lineage of the fair, valiant Arabs,

Mine is the lineage of the bright, sharp-bladed Arabs,

And speech fashioned from pearls and rubies,

And eloquence that is fashioned from pearls and rubies,

وهِمَّةٌ هيَ دونَ العرشِ منكبها

وهِمَّةٌ هيَ دونَ العرشِ منكبها

وصارَ ما تحتها في لجَّةِ الحوتِ

وصارَ ما تحتها في لجَّةِ الحوتِ

And an ambition whose shoulder lies beneath the Throne,

And an ambition whose shoulder touches just beneath the Throne,

And all beneath it has come to lie in the whale’s abyss.

While all beneath it lies deep in the abyss of the Whale.
