أَنَشرُIs it the fragrance الكِباءِof incense وَوَجهُand the face الأَميرِof the prince
أَنَشرُ الكِباءِ وَوَجهُ الأَميرِ
وَصَوتُand the sound الغِناءِof singing وَصافيand the pure الخُمورِwines
وَصَوتُ الغِناءِ وَصافي الخُمورِ
Is it the fragrance of incense and the prince’s face,
I spread the wine cups and the prince's face
Is it the breath of incense and the Prince's face,
And the sound of singing and the pure wines?
And the singing voice and clarity of wines
The sound of singing and the wine of purest hue?
فَداوِso cure خُماريmy hangover بِشُربيby my drinking لَهاof them
فَداوِ خُماري بِشُربي لَها
فَإِنّيfor I سَكِرتُbecame drunk بِشُربِfrom drinking السُرورِjoy
فَإِنّي سَكِرتُ بِشُربِ السُرورِ
So cure my hangover by having me drink them,
Cure my intoxication with my drinking of it
So heal my hangover with a draught of it,
For I grew drunk from drinking joy.
For I have been drunk with drinking of joys
For I am drunk upon the cup of joy.
