إِنَّindeed هَذاthis الشِعرَthe poetry فيamong الشِعرِthe poetry مَلَكa king
إِنَّ هَذا الشِعرَ في الشِعرِ مَلَك
سارَtraveled فَهوَso it is الشَمسُthe sun وَالدُنياand the world فَلَكa celestial sphere
سارَ فَهوَ الشَمسُ وَالدُنيا فَلَك
Indeed, this poem is a king among poems.
This poetry in poetry a king is
Truly, this poetry among all verse is an angel,
It has traveled: it is the sun, and the world its celestial sphere.
It walked so it's the sun and the world a planet
It journeys forth as the sun, and the world is its orbit.
عَدَلَdealt justly الرَحمَنُthe Most Merciful فيهِin it بَينَناbetween us
عَدَلَ الرَحمَنُ فيهِ بَينَنا
فَقَضىso He decreed بِاللَفظِwith the wording ليto me وَالحَمدِand the praise لَكto you
فَقَضى بِاللَفظِ لي وَالحَمدِ لَك
The Most Merciful dealt justly between us in it,
The Most Merciful did justice between us in it
The Merciful One has judged fairly between us in it,
So He allotted the wording to me and the praise to you.
So he judged with words for me and praise be to You
Decreeing the wording mine, and the glory yours.
فَإِذاand whenever مَرَّpasses بِأُذنيthrough the ears of حاسِدٍan envier
فَإِذا مَرَّ بِأُذني حاسِدٍ
صارَbecame مِمَّنone of those who كانَwas حَيّاalive فَهَلَكthen perished
صارَ مِمَّن كانَ حَيّا فَهَلَك
And whenever it passes through an envier's ears,
So when it passes the ear of an envier
So when it passes by the ear of the envious,
He becomes one of those who were alive and then perished.
It becomes of those who were alive and perished
He turns from one who lived to one who has perished.
