لَم تَرَ مَن نادَمتُ إِلّاكا

لَم تَرَ مَن نادَمتُ إِلّاكا

لا لِسِوى وُدِّكَ لي ذاكا

لا لِسِوى وُدِّكَ لي ذاكا

You have seen no drinking companion of mine but yourself.

You saw I chose no drinking-friend save You,

That was for nothing but your affection for me,

Solely because Your love for me was true;

وَلا لِحُبّيها وَلَكِنَّني

وَلا لِحُبّيها وَلَكِنَّني

أَمسَيتُ أَرجوكَ وَأَخشاكا

أَمسَيتُ أَرجوكَ وَأَخشاكا

Nor for my love of her; but I

Not for the love of wine, but rather I

Have come to hope in you and fear you.

Have come to hope in You, and fear You too.
