    Is your neighbor, O lions of al-Faradis, honored,

    so my soul may be at ease—or is he dishonored and handed over?

    أُحاذِرُ مِن لِصٍّ وَمِنكِ وَمِنهُمُ

    Behind me and before me are many enemies;

    I am wary of a thief, and of you, and of them.

    So will you ally with me on the terms I desire?

    For I know better the means of earning a living.

    Then good would surely come to you from every direction,

    and you would grow rich from what you and I take as spoils.
