I played with a woman using a ring,
I toyed with a ring beside a maiden fair,
Like a full moon rising in the darkness.
Resplendent as a full moon rising through the dark,
وكُلَّماand whenever حاوَلتُI tried أخذىmy taking لهُof it
وكُلَّما حاوَلتُ أخذى لهُ
منfrom البنانِthe fingertips المُترَفpampered الناعِمِsoft
من البنانِ المُترَف الناعِمِ
And whenever I tried to take it
And whenever I sought to take the band away,
From her pampered, soft fingertips,
From fingertips so pampered, soft, and fine,
ألقَتهُshe cast it فيinto فيهاher mouth فقُلتُand I said انظرواlook (plural)
ألقَتهُ في فيها فقُلتُ انظروا
قدindeed أخفَتِshe hid الخاتِمَthe ring فيin الخاتِمthe ring (her mouth)
قد أخفَتِ الخاتِمَ في الخاتِم
She tossed it into her mouth, and I said, “Look:
She cast it in her mouth, and I cried out, 'Behold!
She has hidden the ring inside the ring!”
She has hidden the ring inside the ring!'
